Artist Call — The Closets We Keep
OUT Arts & Culture is inviting artists to propose one of ten immersive shipping container installations for The Closets We Keep, taking place in November 2026 in St. Petersburg, Florida.
What You'll Create
Each selected artist will transform an 8-foot shipping container into a fully realized immersive installation. Visitors enter one container at a time, spending a few intimate minutes alone with the work. Every installation must include an audio experience of approximately three minutes or less.
Who Should Apply
We welcome artists from all backgrounds and disciplines — visual art, performance, theater, photography, writing, design, film, and beyond. No immersive installation experience is required. We are looking for strong ideas, honest points of view, and artists willing to step into something new.
What Artists Receive
- $750 artist stipend
- Up to $500 in materials support
- Recording assistance for your audio experience
- Volunteer support during installation and teardown
- Platform and promotion through OUT Arts & Culture channels
